“How do I engage the shaft into your mechanism”?
First of all, to reload the shaft all you need to do is depress the safety (red) piece and gently push the shaft to engage until you hear it click. After you have heard the click and the trigger piece (finger piece) has returned to the original position this denotes that the shaft is engaged and locked in. You can then let go of the red safety and can then load the rubbers.

“How do I look after my Aimrite Speargun after each use”?
We recommend rinsing the speargun after each use with 'Salt Away' or just a bucket of soapy water ensuring you thoroughly wash the handle / mech. Once rinsed we recommend storing the gun in a cool, dark place and un-tension the rubbers to ensure longevity.

“How do I maintain my speargun”?
Once you’ve washed and dried your gun there are a few simple things you can do to maintain its consistency and functionality.
- Check your bands for wear (we recommend replacing them when they begin to show major wear and tear. Don’t leave it until they break and leave you caught short on a trip!)
- Check your shaft (Ensure your flopper is tuned, and your spear is sharp. A hand file can be used to sharpen a blunt tip, however major damage may require a new shaft)
- Check your shooting line (Nicks and cuts in mono or dyneema shooting line could make the difference in landing or losing your dream fish)
- Check your bungee (this needs replacing when the bungee begins to show major wear and tear)
- A little bit of WD40 on the inside of the mechanism can also help with any salt residue.

“How does the Aimrite Safety work”?
Our safety is unique to the Aimrite brand as it is always on right up until you shoot the fish. Gone are the days of missed opportunities and safety struggles when shooting fish! The safety is a second piece (red in colour) that sits underneath the trigger mechanism. This physically prevents it from firing unexpectedly. The best part is you don’t have to do anything different to disengage it. Simply the motion of squeezing the handle before firing is all that is needed to disengage the safety and shoot that fish of a lifetime. Now you can have a safer gun with no safety hassles!

“What’s the difference between Stainless and Spring steel shafts”?
Our spring steel shafts are well known for their toughness and rigidity. They have two notches in the tail of the shaft and they are VERY hard to bend. Unfortunately their downfall is that after consistent use they will eventually rust. This can be slowed with a light wipe of WD40 all over the shaft once you’ve rinsed and dried them after diving. Ultimately the shaft will need replacing.
Our 17.4 pH Stainless shafts are corrosion resistant and won’t rust! They come with 3 Tabs (not notches) at the back and one tab to assist with loading in the middle or de-powering to shoot crays (check local regulations). Tabs increase the shafts strength comparative to notches. These shafts are also very strong, rigid and hard to bend. However they are slightly less resistant to bending comparative to spring steel.

“How do I store my rubbers”?
If you’re lucky enough to dive a few times a week simply rinsing in freshwater and storing in a cool dry space away from light will ensure the longevity of your bands. If you go longer periods between dives; we recommend rinsing your bands in freshwater, drying them in a cool area away from sunlight, then storing them in your freezer.

“What length do you recommend for coastal diving / low visibility”?
Here in north QLD Coastal diving requires specialised gear for big fish in dirty water. Fish like Barra and fingermark (or Mulloway for the southerners) are tough, bony and require a powerful gun, but the vis requires a shorter gun to track fish quickly and at close range. For this reason an 85 roller is the “go to gun” for most guys attempting to chase these dirty water giants.
