What shaft diameter should I choose?
The 7.0mm and 7.5mm single-flopper shafts suit most reef and inshore spearfishing, giving a fast, accurate shot. Step up to the 8mm or 8.5mm threaded stainless shafts for bigger fish and bluewater, where you want more shaft weight and strength behind the shot.
What is the difference between a single-flopper and a threaded shaft?
Single-flopper shafts (our 7.0mm and 7.5mm) are simple, fast to reload and great all-rounders. Threaded shafts (8mm and 8.5mm stainless) take a screw-on slip tip or other tips, so they are the choice for larger fish where you want extra holding power.
How often should I replace my speargun rubbers?
Rubber is a consumable. Rinse it in fresh water, keep it out of the sun and check it before each dive. If you see cracking, cloudiness or lost power, re-band with fresh Aimrite rubber or premade bands. Most divers refresh at least once a season.
What reel line or shooting line do I need?
For reel setups our Dyneema reel line is rated to 380kg for serious holding power. For a standard shooting line, 1.8mm mono with stainless crimps covers most reef and inshore guns. Match the breaking strain to the fish you are chasing.
Do I need a float, and which one?
A float keeps you visible, gives you something to fight big fish against and holds your catch. The Vendetta Bluewater Dive Float is built for open water and bigger pelagics. For reef and inshore diving a smaller float or float line may be all you need.
Will Aimrite shafts and rigging fit my gun?
Our shafts, rubber and rigging are designed around Aimrite spearguns and suit many common setups, but shaft length, notch and tab spacing vary between brands. If you are unsure, message the team with your gun details and we will point you to the right part.
